Protein Pita with Gyros

Is there anybody who can resist in a delicious pitogyro? No, and we can neither. In this recipe, that has been approved by our entire team of dietitians, we present to you the healthiest version of "pitogyros" you can find!
Our pitogyro recipe is low-calorie/high-protein alternative of the traditional greek pita-gyros recipe. It will keep you full for a long time, it is an ideal choice as a post-workout mea. It can also be consumed by people who are intolerant to gluten!

Protein Pita with Gyros

This recipe is a low-calorie/fitness alternative of the traditional pita with gyros!

Prepping time: 10min
Cooking time: 30min
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 6 egg whites
  • 200g greek yogurt 2 %
  • 2 peppers (sliced )
  • 4 oyster mushrooms
  • 4 tbsp dill (chopped )
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • salt, pepper

 

Directions

  1. Cut the mushrooms into thin strips. Mix them with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic and paprika. Put them on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake in the a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius with circulating air for about half an hour, until the mushrooms are crispy like "gyros".
  3. Put the egg whites in a mixer and mix to make a meringue. Add salt and pepper and spread it on non-stick paper on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven with circulating air at 150 degrees Celsius for 12-15 '.
  4. Mix the dill with the yogurt, salt and pepper (to make a light sauce).
  5. When the "omelette"-maringue is ready, top with the yogurt sauce, peppers and mushroom "gyros". Fold with the help of baking sheet.

Notes
  • Prepare this recipe from the previous night and keep it in the fridge.
  • Take your "pitogyro" with you at work, reheating and enjoy at lunch time.
  • Combine it with a carbohydrate source. For example, you can wrap it in whole in a tortilla or inn a Greek or Cypriot pita.
