Thessaloniki Bagel with Raspberries

This recipe is super nutritious and easy! Try it!

Prepping time: 35min
Wait time: 20-25min
Cooking time: 10min
Servings: 15
Cost: 0,6€ per serving
Calories: 292 per serving
Exercise Equivalent: 25min per serving

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 1 glass of warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ½ cups olive oil
  • 100g dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 cup whole wheat sesame

Directions

  1. Mix the water with the yeast and sugar. Set aside for a few minutes to activate the yeast. Place the flour in a bowl and make a small whole. Add the water with the yeast, and begin to knead the dough. At the end, put the olive oil and the salt, and keep kneading the dough.
  2. Let the dough rest in a warm place for 30'-60 '.
  3. Add the chocolate pieces and frozen raspberries and knead as gently as possible.
  4. Start shaping your bagels and dip them in sesame seeds (tip: traditionally, you would  dip them first in mixture of sugar and water in order for the sesame to stick, but you don't need to do these with this recipe, as these bagels have a little more moisture due to the berries. This way the sesame will easily stick to the dough.)
  5. Place your bagels in a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-25 'until golden brown.

Notes
  • You may store your bagels in the fridge, and defrost them any time you need a quick snack, ready-to-go.
  • Of course, you may substitute raspberries with blueberry or chopped strawberries. Make sure you have frozen them before, in order not to "dissolve" when you put them in the dough.
  • If you don not with to add chocolate, you may substitute it with chopped nuts.
